National gathering “Social Innovation in common”

Breaking down barriers between social innovation ecosystems
Social innovation consists of elaborating new responses to social needs that are newly arisen or insufficiently satisfied. It can be mobilised by any type of actor, whether public or from the social and solidarity economy (SSE) field in particular.
This day provided an opportunity to share feedback from experiences and to exchange on the challenges related to the development of social innovation in France, focusing on:
- The diversity of stakeholders;
- Social innovation ecosystems that are still insufficiently coordinated;
- The difficulties of fully integrating common law and transforming public action, even after the scale-up of the social innovation (SI) projects across several territories;
- etc.
Roundtables and workshops were structured around these big questions!

“Public policies and social innovation: breaking down silos”
Actors of the public sphere and the SSE, financiers and researchers were gathered to exchange around this theme at multiple times.
- An introduction on the objectives of social innovation by Avise and Maxime Baduel, the Ministerial Delegate on social and solidarity economy.
- A restitution of a study held by the Urban School of Sciences Po Paris, around the question: “How to mobilise better social innovation in the creation of public policies to serve the ecological and fair transition?”, on which 4 graduate students worked for almost 9 months.
- A roundtable on the subject “Overcoming barriers for social innovation: how to reassemble all stakeholders to construct the transition?” with interventions of:
- Ingrid Sizaret Planchard, Task Officer at the Strategy Department, DGEFP (Ministry of Labour, Health, Solidarity and Families);
- Damien Baldin, Director of the foundation La France s’engage;
- Nadège Giraud, Programmes Director of the association La 27ème Région;
- Jade Omer, Consultant-Researcher at Ellyx;
- Camille Chapuis, Co-Director at Marseille Solutions;
- Emilie Sarrazin, Director of Ecossolies.
- A networking session between participants.
- Participative workshops in working groups, with the objective to deliberate together on collaboration paths and the overcoming barriers for ecosystems.
“Social innovation is a means to respond collectively to grand challenges of our world, a way to bring new solutions to contemporary issues and to uncovered social needs. Fields are infinite and not all of them have been explored”

Social innovation generators, key actors for SSE development
To complete the meeting, members of two networks animated by Avise gathered together in the same FIAP building in Paris on that day.
- The network “Fabrique à initiatives” (eng. “Initiatives’ Factories”), at the occasion of an annual meeting dedicated to interconnexion and exchange of good practices between its members. Created in 2010, the network “Fabrique à initiatives” allows to respond to challenges faced by territories by connecting private and public actors, as well as citizens in order to generate social innovations. It brings together over thirty organisations present on the French territory and dedicated to project creation.
- The network “Résonance” of national scale-up supporters to SSE enterprises. Launched on the 3rd of June, the network aims to exchange ideas on the methods of support providers, in order to make their offers more understandable, improve the support chain, as well as to professionalise practices.
